We’ve overhauled our checkout process and gone with the more popular, enclosed style checkout. In a nutshell, the idea is to strip out anything that isn’t relevant and serve up a checkout flow that should help customers breeze through the process.

One important change that we’ve implemented is putting shipping addresses up front. If you’ve got a previously saved or default address, we’ll serve that up first, with an option to pick an alternative address or lastly enter a new address.

It’s a better idea to find out where you’d like your stuff delivered versus asking you for your billing address.

We ask for your billing address after we’ve asked for your payment method. If you’ve entered a new shipping address as a first time customer, we’ll automatically reflect this as your billing address versus asking whether you’d like to opt in. If you’d prefer to use an alternative billing address, hit “Enter a new address” and you can enter a new address.

If you’ve checked out previously, we default your Billing address to an address set as default, and then serve up alternative options as we do for shipping.

We’re of the opinion that less is more. We’ll make some choices for you and hopefully they’ll be the right ones. If they aren’t, feel free to go ahead and change them out. In the majority of cases, taking some choice away will result in a better, faster experience.
